The importance of following God and not people.

Some people love to use the parts of scripture that benefits them in a particular way, or they’ll try to use certain scripture as a form of manipulation so that others will co-sign what they’re doing. Nah… We can quote scripture all day. The enemy knows God’s Word.

This is why it’s important to know God for yourself and try the spirit by the Spirit! 1 John 4:1 says, “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” Be careful who you listen to. Unfortunately, some people are out here using God’s name for selfish desires and despicable motives. They don’t have the same energy when it comes to keeping the entire Word of God, as they do the few verses that keeps them stuck in their ways.

This is the perfect example of having religion instead of a personal relationship with God. Religion is always about manipulation, power, and brainwashing. God doesn’t use these tactics, and anyone born of the Spirit doesn’t use them either. Don’t allow anyone to use scripture to keep you oppressed. That’s not God’s way.

Seek God! He didn’t just speak to people in the Bible, He speaks to us too. He will tell you what to do and what not to do and He will confirm it. Don’t believe some people just because your ears are itching to hear what they are saying. They could be telling you a bunch of sound good and feel good lies, and if you don’t know any better, you will be deceived into thinking it’s for your benefit, when it’s really about them gaining a certain amount of control or power and playing on your weaknesses.

So, follow God, not people. Meaning, don’t look to people as someone you strive to be like, and definitely don’t looking at them as someone who can do no wrong! You never know a person’s true intentions. We all fall daily, but God never fails and He can always be trusted.
