It’s not good to lie, because you’ll have to lie again to cover that lie, and then lie to cover that lie, until you’re entangled in a web of self destruction… Just tell the truth, no matter how bad it hurts them, and no matter how bad it hurts you…
When I got home, TJ hugged me and picked me up, then he put me down. I was confused. “Baby. I don’t know what happened, but I called the bank to see how much money was deposited into our account from my check, and a deposit of $100,000.00 was in there! I came by your job, but Monica said that you had already left.
“Wow, thank God for Monica,” I thought to myself. All of those times I covered for her when she was too drunk to come to work, or when she had last minute plans, paid off. I had to thank her for that, the next time I saw her. “Wow, baby. Your job gave you one hundred thousand dollars?” I said.
“Yeah, that could only mean one thing. I got that executive position that I applied for which qualified me for a one hundred thousand dollar advance,” he said. “Babe, I don’t think that’s where it comes from,” I said. Where else could it have come from?” TJ said. “Wait.
Where did it say that the deposit came from?” I said. “It didn’t say,” TJ said. I had to come up with another lie. “Baby that money is from my 401K. I pulled all of the money out, to get us out of debt, and to start my fashion line.
I also quit my job today,” I said. TJ looked confused. He scratched his head. “Wait, what? Baby, you didn’t have to pull your entire retirement savings out, and why would you quit your job?” he said, with a confused look on his face.
“I told you… I’m starting my own fashion line,” I said, before sitting on the couch. “Where’s Tristan?” I said. “I let him spend a night with his cousins at my parents house,” TJ said. “Oh, okay.”
“So, where we’re you? You were supposed to get off at six, right? I came by your job at 5:45, and Monica said, you’d left.” “I know. I really didn’t know how to tell you I quit.
So, I drove around for a while, and then I went to get something to eat. I got you and Tristan some breakfast as well. It’s in the bag,” I said, pointing to the bag of takeout on the coffee table. “To be honest, I don’t know if I’ve made the right decision. I’m scared as hell, but I think it’s time that I do this.
If I don’t do it now, our situation will never change,” I said. “I don’t agree with that. We’re going through a rough patch, but our situation will change, and things will get better. TJ sat beside me and hugged me with one arm. “You’re not alone.
We’re going to get through this together. I know that I haven’t been getting much work, but I don’t want you to feel like the pressure is on you to carry our family. Things will get better, you just need a little faith,” he said. He kissed me on my forehead. “Okay?” he said.
Okay,” I said, with a smile. “I love you Tristan Johnathan Winston Sr.” “And I love you Vanessa Nicole Winston. “Hey, we don’t have to pick Tristan up until tomorrow. So we have all day and night to play,” TJ said.
“I can’t baby. I’m just not in the mood right now. I need to work on a business plan while everything is still fresh in my head,” I said. “Alright.
Well in that case, I’m going to shoot some hoops with the fellas,” TJ said. “Okay. Sorry babe, but I’ll make it up to you by cooking your favorite meal tonight,” I said. “Wait, not the pot roast with the little baby potatoes,” TJ said. I laughed, “yes,” I said.
Mm mm mmm! Can’t wait,” he said. “Alright,” TJ said, before giving me a quick peck on the lips. Then he stood up. “I’m about to go, but I’ll be back in a few,” he said, before grabbing his keys off the coffee table.
I stood up and walked him to the door. “I love you, so much,” TJ said. I hugged him. “I love you too babe. I then looked up at him and we kissed on the lips.
“See you in a few baby,” he said, before opening the door and walking out. “Okay,” see you in a little bit,” I said, before closing and locking the door. I felt terrible. What was I doing? An affair, and lies on top of lies to cover it.
What have I gotten myself into. I know that these lies are going to catch up with me eventually. I called Christian. “Hello,” he said. “Christian, I’m sorry, but we can’t do this anymore,” I said.
“What are you talking about?” he said. “We can’t… I mean, I can’t do whatever it is that we’re doing. I don’t like lying to my husband,” I said. “You don’t like lying to your husband?” he said, in a careless tone.
“No, I don’t,” I said. “But you’re lying to yourself every time you go home and pretend that you’re happy. I can give you the life you want. By the way, you’re welcome for the money I put in your bank account,” Christian said. “Wait, so you think that this fling or whatever it is, is all about money?
Listen, you can take your money back. I don’t need you,” I said. “Of course you do, Vanessa. Why else would you approach me? You came on to me, because you knew what I could do for you.
Listen, I’m not trying to break up your fake happy home, but I always get what I want, and I want you. However… if you need a few days, weeks, hell, even months for things to calm down… then I got you. Just don’t make me wait too long. Anyway, I’m on my way to the gym. Call me if you need anything, and I mean, anything,” he said, before ending the call.
Eight months later…
I’ve had people watching Vanessa and TJ’s every move. Eight months ago, I even joined the gym where TJ plays ball. If Vanessa thinks she’s getting away from me that easily, she has another thing coming. She’s mine. I don’t care about her broke ass husband.
I can do more for her than he ever will. A woman like Vanessa deserves the finer things in life, and TJ can’t do nothing for her, to include, get her off. It didn’t take long for me to befriend TJ and his friends. His friends act like a bunch of groupies, especially when they found out that I’m rich. I gave them a fake name and I told them that I inherited my wealth, but I told them to keep things low key.
I don’t want them to find out who I really am. I definitely don’t want Vanessa to find out that I’m basically TJ’s best friend. I even got him a job as foreman. He’s over the construction of my mini mall. He’s making a third more than what he was making at that other company.
Vanessa finally got her big break with her fashion line. Little does she know, I’m her main investor. I hold just as many shares in her company as she does. Right now, she and TJ are my little puppets. I’ve been pulling some strings, but tonight is the night that I tie up some loose ends and cut some strings loose.
