There’s a saying, “No one knows what the future holds.” I’m not sure who made this quote but they’re right, at least about us as humans. We don’t know what the future holds but God does, because He is already there! I think it’s pretty awesome that our God is so infinite that He can be in the past, present and future all at the same time. He’s omnipresent, and omnipotent! He’s magnificent! Don’t you just love Him? Me too!
There’s so much going on in the world. Many people are losing their lives, jobs and so much more as a result of Covid-19, and during this time of trials that have fallen on the world, instead of us all being united, hate is still running rampant in the streets with horrific acts of violence and racism. It’s a tragedy. We are fighting a spiritual war, but the enemy would have us believe we are fighting a people war or race war, or a virus. The Bible makes it clear about the types of battles we really fight, who’s the enemy and what his agenda is. John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” These two scriptures aren’t meant to make you lose heart, but to make you wise and stronger. They are meant to open your eyes to what’s really going on, so that you’re always prayerful and alert. It’s time to man up and put on our big boy/girl pants and fight the good fight!
1 Peter 5:8 (CEV)
“Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack. “
So, what do we do? How do we fight? With the Word of God! Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” I’ll give you more scriptures to help you fight in a minute, but first, we must trust God, period. What good is knowing or speaking the Word if we don’t believe God? Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Just as we trusted God in the past, we trust Him now and we must trust Him with the uncertainties of our future. Why? Because He is already there! He’s the same God. Our situations may change, but God does not! In the good, bad, happy and sad times, God is with us and having Him there makes all the difference in the world.
In order to keep what’s going on around you from getting inside of you, take some time away from the news, away from social media or anyone and anything that’s trying to rob you of your peace of mind. If things are becoming a bit too much, there’s nothing wrong with you needing a mental break. Take it! Don’t take a break from God though. Continue to study His Word. Pray, fast or do whatever it is that the Spirit of God is telling you to do, during your “me time.”
We must quiet our minds in order to hear from God. Have you ever tried to hear two or more people try to tell you something at one time? Usually one person will try to over talk the other person or you’ll become frustrated because you can’t hear clearly. The distractions of this world are out to steal our attention. We have a choice, listen to God or listen to the world. We can’t listen to both at the same time. If we listen to both at the same time, we become frustrated because we can’t hear God clearly. Why? Because the world is also in our ear. We have an ear full of negativity and another ear full of hope. Who will you choose to listen to? I hope it’s the Spirit of God.
Day 1, we talked about God’s faithfulness to us. Day 2, we talked about how we can show our loyalty to Him. Today we will end this devotional with a strong finish. Below I will give you several scriptures on how to finish strong and combat the wiles of the enemy, but remember it all begins with what and who you choose to listen to. What you feed your mind will grow, feed it the Word, so we can finish strong and flourish. 💪🏾
2 Corinthians 10:4-5
For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
Ephesians 6:11-18
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Ephesians 5:15-16
Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
