Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
When a thought comes to your mind, what do you do with it? Is the thought even your own thoughts, or did it come from another person or spirit? Some people will argue that, if the thought is in your head, it’s your thought. Others will say, not every thought is yours. I will say, you don’t have to own every thought that pops into your head, and I will have to agree that not every thought that pops into someone’s head is theirs, unless they take ownership of that thought. How do you own a thought, by succumbing to it in two ways, you either speak it or act on it, thus, bringing it to life. 2 Corinthians 10:5 New International Version
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Whether someone has planted a thought in your head by word or deeds, the Holy Spirit has given believers the authority to discern which thoughts are of God and which thoughts are not, and this doesn’t only apply to a person’s very own thoughts, when someone else’s way of thinking lines up with the Word of God or doesn’t line up, God has given us the ability to know the truth, so that we are not confused or deceived. As a child, have you ever seen the cartoon where there’s an angel on one of the cartoon’s shoulders and the devil on the other shoulder? Both are trying to persuade the cartoon to do something. The angel wants the cartoon to do good and the devil wants the cartoon to do evil. Believe it or not folks, our minds are battlefields, and in the battlefield of our mind, we have a choice of who to listen to; the Spirit of God or demonic forces. The reason the enemy attacks people’s minds is because if he can get a person’s mind, everything else will follow. Therefore, we must learn to declutter our minds, for the simple fact that, not everything in it, deserves a home there. If we give certain thoughts a home, then those thoughts will not only control the way we think, but also the way we feel and if not careful, a person’s life. So, everyday we have to do some spring cleaning of our minds. If it’s not of God, kick it to the curb. If it is of God, keep it. If you don’t know if it’s of God or not, ask God to give you wisdom and He will (see James 1:5). Life experiences and time can take a toll on our way of thinking, but the Word of God stands the test of time and never changes. So, when in doubt, read the Bible and see what the Word says and don’t cease to pray. God will confirm the word He has given to you. My prayer for you is that God reveal to you any thoughts that’s hindering you from becoming all that He created you to be, and that you accept His strength to let go. I pray that you fully accept His will for your life and that you walk in the love of Christ. I pray that God brings peace and clarity to your mind so that you’re able to make sound judgment and live in wisdom and truth. In Jesus name. Amen.
