Don’t be afraid of your brokenness being exposed to God. Too often people get comfortable with being broken, because they’ve been that way for so long, and some refuse to turn those not so pretty parts of them over to God because it hurts to let their pain go. I know it sounds crazy, but when you’re used to pain, it becomes your norm and it hurts to get rid of comfort. Therefore people “protect” their pain. Ask anyone who has ever dealt with an addiction of any kind, and they will tell you that the road to sobriety was painful. Sure, the addiction may have caused them pain, but that pain was comforting, and getting rid of comfort hurts! No one likes to be uncomfortable, but God didn’t call us to be comfortable, therefore, He will call us out in order to wake us up. He will expose us, just to cover us with grace. Hebrews 12:5-6, “And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” Allow room for the Holy Spirit to correct you. Correction is not comfortable but it’s necessary. The Lord wants us to learn from our experiences, good and bad. He wants us to become better, not bitter. When it comes to past pains, don’t allow what happened to you to get inside of you. Let’s just say that you did, but you don’t even realize it. All you have to do is ask God to remove anything in you, that’s not of Him. It’s not going to be a pretty picture when He starts to reveal what those things are, but you must trust Him, and let those things go. The truth is, we’ve all gotten comfortable with something painful. We may not know it’s painful because we’ve been carrying it around for so long, and that’s why we need the Spirit Of God to reveal those things to us. Quit holding on to the very things that’s holding you back. Accept God’s correction. His correction is a redirection to a better life for you. God doesn’t correct you to condemn you, He corrects you so that He can fill you with His Spirit and you can live victoriously, the way He intended. Embrace His power that’s at work in you. Healing always hurts before it heals. As the saying goes, “The truth hurts,” but Jesus said it will also set you free. The only way to put you back together again, is to allow God to get rid of whatever it was that broke you in the first place. Don’t get comfortable in your brokenness, instead meet God there. Let Him see the good, the bad and the ugly you, so that He can make your mind, body and soul, both beautiful and free. In Jesus name. Amen.
