There’s nothing wrong with working hard and being able to buy the finer things in life. If “things” are more important to you than “the little things” in life, then go for it, but I can guarantee you that money cannot buy you happiness or love; at least not the real kind. Again, there’s nothing wrong with you working hard and wanting what the world considers the finer things, but make sure that “things” aren’t compensating for something that money just can’t buy. If you have any issues deep within that needs resolving, then solve those issues first, instead of trying to suppress them. Which brings me to a quote that you may have heard before, I’m not sure who wrote it but it says, “Money can’t buy happiness, but I’d rather cry in a Bentley than on a bus.”
First of all, this quote doesn’t help anyone… just like the Bentley can’t help you no more than a bus if you’re crying. Neither of these things can comfort you and tell you it’s going to be okay. Neither of these things can love you. Neither of these things are able to listen to you and give you wisdom and instruction, and last but not least, neither of these things can get you into Heaven. So why does it matter where a person cries? 🤷🏾♀️
Whether in a Bentley or on a bus, the issue is that THE PERSON IS HURTING! It could be physically, mentally or spiritually, but things can never do what only God can! I believe that a person who is at peace, who loves and has the joy that only Jesus gives is a blessed person, whether they are riding on a bus or driving a Bentley. The point I’m trying to make is, don’t base your happiness on the amount of money you have or material things in your possession. These things are great to have, but don’t allow them to become your god.
They may give you a temporary high that allows you to escape reality for a minute, but the blood of Jesus can give you a clean slate at life, make you brand new, fulfill you completely and give you eternal life in Heaven, and guess what? You don’t have to pay one red cent! Jesus already paid the price! The things of this world can’t do that. Think about how many rich people you may have read about or seen on the news that has committed suicide.
It’s truly sad that they thought death was the only escape from their issues. The world around them may have thought that they were happy and fulfilled because they were living everybody’s dream! I mean who doesn’t want to be wealthy? Unfortunately inside, these people probably felt alone. They probably felt like they couldn’t be themselves, and people really didn’t understand them.
Ultimately they didn’t feel loved, although they may have had tons of friends and millions of fans. So the next time you see someone on social media telling you that you have to live a lavish lifestyle in order to be happy, accepted or loved, rebuke satan from your thoughts! It’s very important who you’re listening to. If it’s not of God, it’s of the devil… there’s no middle ground. Things will only give you a temporary high and fake love.
The real people in your life are going to love you regardless of if you have a penny to your name or a million in your bank account, and just because a person’s bank is filled, that doesn’t mean they’re fulfilled. Rich people bleed red just like broke people do. We are all people, desiring to love and be loved and we are all put here for a purpose, and that is to allow the love of Jesus Christ to manifest in our lives. So always count your blessings, and remember there’s nothing wrong with wanting the best things in life, but make sure it’s not a cover for something that’s killing you internally, and make sure you’re not doing it to be accepted by people, because making life more about what people think of you instead of what God thinks is dangerous. You’ll never be happy doing that.
Talk to God, He wants to hear from you. He is always available and ready to listen to you and love on you… If you want to begin a personal relationship with Jesus Christ the Bible says to do this, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Repent for your wrongs and ask Him to come into your heart, and He will!
He said so! Once you’ve done that start talking to Him and reading your Bible everyday! Surround yourself with people of God who will hold you accountable to your faith in God, so that you will be encouraged and focused. Remember true riches are having the fruits of the Spirit (see Galatians 5:22-23). Ironically the “world” calls these things the little things, but somehow these things matter the most!
For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
